With an eye on the future, a heart for a vibrant community, and recognition of the inter-connectedness of our environment and everything that lives here, CCFS strives to unite all citizens who are committed to long-term stewardship of Chaffee County and the broader Arkansas River Valley.

 Mission:

CCFS’s mission is to support existing effective programs and initiate new programs that ensure the long-term viability and well being of our community. CCFS supports the development of long-term sustainable methods as a basis for a vibrant
and resilient future. Of primary importance to our community’s future are: conservation
and protection of ranch lands, water, and other natural resources, local food production, alternative energies, and affordable housing. CCFS serves its members and the broader public through research, educational practices, and interaction with community members, agencies, and local governments.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 •     February  27   - Colorado Mountain College and Eco Depot USA have joined together
             to teach a class on Introduction to Renewable Energy. The class will cover energy
             efficiency, solar electric, solar thermal and wind power systems. The goal is to
             provide information so people can make informed decisions that just might change our 
             County's energy use. Saturday February 27  1-4 pm at the Salida Library, downstairs.

 RECENT EVENTS:

     •     February  22   - Chaffee County Board of Commissioners Public Hearing to 
                consider a proposed  amendment that would allow for the installation of pipeline 
                under the Arkansas River by trenching rather than boring. The Commissioners  
            approved 3-0 the requested amendment.

      •     February  16 The Cajun Dance on Mardi Gras was a big success and it appeared that a  
                great time was had by the packed audience. Thank you to the Gumbo Jets for terrific
                music!!

     •    January  13   - "Cool Cities" presentation at the Salida Library 6:30 pm. To learn about
